As it turns out, our soy milk maker is versatile. Not only will it make milk from soybeans, almonds, hazelnuts or almost any nut, bean or grain, it also makes soups and porridges.
Yesterday I found a recipe for quinoa porridge: 1 cup quinoa with 1.3 liters of purified water. I threw in about 10 hazelnuts, plugged in the machine and hit the Porridge button. Okay. That’s it! 30 minutes later and I had a hot, tasty breakfast. I added some agave nectar and a little truvia and salt and also some pine nuts and hazelnuts as garnish.
I understand the machine can do the same recipe with oats or rice. Easy breakfast!
Arctic cold for America’s mid-Atlantic region today. It was 4ºF this morning and we’ve got a fresh foot of snow. I made it into the office after a four-hour delay. Now all I can think about is what’s for dinner. More later!
