Honestly we never thought to try this before. But we happened upon this blog by eatmunchlove and said, “Hey, we can make that!”
We modified the recipe slightly. Here’s what we did:
- 1/2 cup crushed sesame seeds
- 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
- 1/4 cup flaxseed
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon agave nectar
- 1 tablespoon rice syrup
- 2 tablespoons water
Okay, two steps here. Roast the seed over low heat on the stove until you can smell the aroma of the seeds. This took us about 12 to 15 minutes. Also, put the rest of the ingredients in a sauce pan on low heat and bring to a boil on low heat. The took a while. I think 15-20 minutes.
Mix the seeds into the sauce and stir well. Then place the mixture onto parchment paper and cover with another sheet of parchment paper. Use a rolling pin to flatten. Let it sit for 10 minutes on your counter and then 10 more minutes in the refrigerator. Then you can cut the crackers into squares.
Warning: It’s impossible to eat just one! Also, almond cheese tastes great on these crackers. They go really well with wine too. Enjoy!
