When I started the vegan lifestyle I was on a journey of discovery. I ate new foods that I had never tried before. I didn’t have a guide to tell me what was good and what was better. There’s bad vegan choices out there too. You live, and learn.
Now that my wife is onboard with the vegan lifestyle, we are following the Eat to Live philosophy of Dr. Joel Fuhrman. He advocates that every day you include G-BOMBS in your diet:
Today for lunch I had a healthy serving of greens (romaine, collard greens, bok choy) and a bean stew. Earlier this week I made pinto beans and brown rice in the slow cooker. In a large skillet I heated them up with veggie broth, mushrooms and onions. For seasoning, I added a bit of Bragg Liquid Aminos and a non-salt blend of seasoning.
Important fact: No salt. No oil.
In no time at all, we’ve broken the salt and oil habit. Next, we need to lose the sweet tooth from unnatural sources. Yesterday I made a batch of blackberry jam. It included 1 and 3/4 cups of organic cane sugar. We’re going to whittle that down in future recipes. These empty calories are bad for your health and counterproductive if you’re goal is to lose weight.
