Yesterday we visited the Korean market west of Baltimore. While browsing the aisles, I came across a Pad Thai Sauce that sounded good. I didn’t really read the ingredients closely. So trusting, I was! I dropped a couple teaspoons into my soup tonight. Wow. I mean, wow! My soup has never tasted so good.
My wife read the ingredients closely:
Monosodium Glutenate = MSG! And check out the creative spellings of radish and soybean!
Okay, so I’ve always heard that MSG is really bad for you and you need to avoid it like the plague. But I’ve got to say, I’ve never tasted my soup this good before. Did I already say that? Ahem. Wow.
So, the recipe for the basic soup is here. I make this at least once a week…sometimes twice. Do you think an occasional brush with MSG is bad? Like, once or twice a week?
I’ll have to do some more research. This was so spicy that I literally had drops of sweat pouring from my face. That’s the kind of spicy I love.
Love this balance btw good and bad! I had the most delicious pasta today out, definitely had a lot of oil and salt, but all vegan so…. I agree, sometimes you have to splurge!
Hear, hear! 🙂
